Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up living in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). Two years later she became a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Then, in 1992 she was made the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times in journalism, among them her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She has covered several notable stories over the years, including budget reform, tax reform, and an investigation into the Iran Contra saga. She travelled extensively with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
